Heroes Tribute
2012 Event Honoring Sister Conleth Brannan
Schott Communities for Persons who are Deaf and/or Disabled hosted its 2012 Heroes Tribute on Friday, March 16, 2012, at St. Bonaventure’s Parish Hall in Davie, FL, with over 260 guests in attendance.  This year’s honoree was Sister Conleth Brannan, co-founder of Schott Communities and raised nearly $35,000 in net profit for the organization.

Since the opening of the Schott Communities in 1986, Sister Connie has been active in its every aspect - as teacher, organizer, interpreter, Eucharistic minister, and pastoral care giver.  Anyone who is familiar with Schott Communities knows Sister Connie and understands the valuable role she plays in our day-to-day dealings.  The presenter of the Lifetime Achievement Hero Award was Archbishop Thomas Wenski.  Speakers included Title Sponsor Jimmy Kleinrichert, President of the James Jr. Fund, Board and Foundation Member Greg Schott, and former Miami Dolphin Sean Hill.  The event was emceed by Nicole Maristany Krauss from Channel 4’s Neighbors 4 Neighbors.

This very special fund raiser not only supports the mission of Schott Communities, but more importantly, gives them the opportunity to honor people who make a difference in the disabled community.  The Heroes event provides Schott Communities an opportunity to recognize outstanding individuals, businesses, or organizations with incredible determination, spirit, and positive outlook that are involved with the physically and mentally challenged community.  Nominees have overcome the many obstacles of living with a disability, cared for those who are disabled, or embraced Schotts' mission with a loving heart.  The organization hopes to expand their nomination committee and honoree process throughout the community for the 2013 event.  If you are interested in being part of the committee or know someone who would be an appropriate honoree, please contact 954/434-3306.

Schott Communities’ programs assist clients in developing skills for independent living, promote self-sufficiency, and provide social, recreational and spiritual opportunities to enhance their quality and enjoyment of life.  They continue to strive to create an environment of caring and dignity for persons who are deaf or disabled by encouraging and challenging them to grow in self-acceptance and independence.  For more information about Schott Communities and its services and programs, visit their website at
