FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COOPER CITY, FL (January 16, 2012)
– Schott Communities for Persons who are Deaf or Disabled will host its 2012 Heroes Tribute on Friday, March 16, 2012, at St. Bonaventure’s Parish Hall in Davie, FL.  This year’s honoree is Sister Conleth Brannan, co-founder of Schott Communities.

This very special fund raiser not only supports the mission of their organization, but more importantly, gives them the opportunity to honor people who make a difference in the disabled community.  The Heroes event provides Schott Communities an opportunity to recognize outstanding individuals, businesses, or organizations with incredible determination, spirit, and positive outlook that are involved with the physically and mentally challenged community.  They have overcome the many obstacles of living with a disability, cared for those who are disabled; or embraced Schott’s mission with a loving heart.  Since the opening of the Schott Communities in 1986, Sister Connie has been active in its every aspect - as teacher, organizer, interpreter, Eucharistic minister, and pastoral care giver.  Anyone who is familiar with Schott Communities knows Sister Connie and understands the valuable role she plays in our day-to-day dealings.

Schott Communities’ programs assist clients in developing skills for independent living, promote self-sufficiency, and provide social, recreational and spiritual opportunities to enhance their quality and enjoyment of life.  They continue to strive to create an environment of caring and dignity for persons who are deaf or disabled by encouraging and challenging them to grow in self-acceptance and independence.

Please join Schott Communities in March to honor the 2012 Heroes at this very special evening – a night that will fill everyone’s hearts with joy and renew their belief in what is good in the world around us.  Tickets are $50 per person.  You can show your support of this year’s Hero by placing an ad in the event journal, starting at $50 for a business card.  Contact Karen Drumheller, Director of Development, for information to become a sponsor for this event, to make reservations at the dinner, or to place an ad in the event journal.

The event’s Title Sponsor is The James Jr. Fund, Inc. which has been a long-time supporter of Schott Communities.  It was established in memory of James Kleinrichert, Jr. and is dedicated to the treatment of children with cancer, AIDS, and special needs.  Gold Sponsors are Wings of Gold; Silver Sponsors are Shula’s American Steakhouse; Bronze Sponsors are Law Office of Lawrence Levy and Memorial Healthcare System.  Additional sponsorship opportunities are still available.

Please contact Karen Drumheller, Director of Development at 954-434-3306 or for more information.  Details, are also posted on their website at www.schottcommunities.org
